Spotlight: Optimal Drive Technology
The low volume of emissions emitted by the Yaris is achieved through
the use of technology designed primarily to optimize combustion. In
gasoline engines has increased the compression ratio has been modified
intake system and in the case of the 1.33 VVT-i, has introduced a
system Stop & Start, which temporarily stops the engine once the
car stops at stoplights.
The diesel engine uses a gas recirculation EGR, variable geometry
turbocharger, piezoelectric injectors and particulate filter and, among
other systems, to reduce their CO2 emissions. The technology of Toyota
Optimal Drive also affects the compact design of the overall weight
reduction and to minimize consumption.
